The NASA Exceptional Bravey Medal is awarded for exemplary and courageous handling of an emergency in NASA program activities by an individual who, independent of personal danger, has acted to safeguard human life or government property; or for exemplary and courageous service by an individual in his performance, irrespective of personal danger, of an official task of importance to the mission of NASA.
