The Yangtze Service Medal was awarded to members of the Navy and Marine Corps who served on shore at Shanghai or in the valley of the Yangtze with landing forces between September 3, 1926 and October 21, 1927 and again from March 1, 1930 to December 31, 1932, or served on ships during these periods.

This decoration was authorized on April 28, 1930.
