This 1500th Anniversary of Kiev Medal was bestowed to persons who lived in Kiev and who took part in its restoration and reconstruction, and also participated in the liberation of Kiev. The underground fighters of Kiev were also entitled to the jubilee medal.

This decoration was established in May 1982.
