Civil War Medal - Army

The Civil War Medal was awarded for service in the Regular or Volunteer Army or in the Militia in the service of the United States during the Civil War between April 15, 1861 and April 9, 1865, - or for service in Texas, to August 20, 1866. The original ribbon had a narrow white center stripe, flanked on either side by equal stripes of red, white and blue. This was changed in 1913 to half blue and half gray.

This decoration was authorized in 1907.
