The Coast Guard Artic Service Medal is awarded to members of theUS Coast Guard who have served served aboard US Coast Guard ships or aircraft for a specific period within the Polar regions of the Artic Circle, or who have participated in US Artic Programs as determined by the Commandant.

This decoration was authorized in May 1976.
