Coast Guard Achievement Medal

The Coast Guard Achievement Medal is awarded to all members of the Coast Guard, including reserves, and members of other branches of the Armed Forces when serving with Coast Guard units for outstanding leadership, professional achievement and superior performance of duty in either peacetime or combat situations.

This decoration was originally established as the Secretary of the Treasury Commmendation for Achievement Award in January 1964. This was subsequently designated as the Secretary of Transportation Commendation award in March 1967. This was then designated as the Coast Guard Achievement Medal in June 968.
